RETOUCHING & RESTORATION SERVICES

We offer digital retouching and restoration on high quality, high resolution scans.

We charge $60.00 per hour - pricing is in 5 minute increments. There is a minimum charge of $10.00.

If you would like an estimate for retouching or restoration of an image please e-mail or FTP upload a copy of the image with what you would like done and we will give you an estimate.

An e-mailed file is generally not large enough for doing the actual work. We will still need you to either send your original to us to be professionally scanned or send a high quality scan for us to do the retouching work. If you have questions about sending the right type of scan for retouching check out "How to make quality scans for retouching" on the Tips Page or e-mail us with any questions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
RETOUCHING & RESTORATION

Retouching is the art of changing something in the original to make the image look better. For example if you want to remove a person, body parts, light poles, distracting flares, anything that is being totally removed is Retouching.

Retouching also applys to anything that is altered to enhance an image. For example when you swap heads, open eyes, lessen wrinkles, or take a few pounds off. These are all retouching techniques.

Restoration on the other hand is fixing damage that has occured to an original image. For example fixing rips, tears, folds or discoloration from an old photography. These are restoration techniques that do not alter the original image. The idea is to restore the image to its original beauty.

There are times when retouching and restoration are used on the same image.
